Let’s Begin!

How do we start? I need to learn more about you and your musical goals. We can start with a 30 minute, complimentary lesson that will include me discovering more about the level of experience you have. I will ask you questions and together we’ll set up a lesson plan to help you achieve your musical intent.

WHAT TO EXPECT - VOICE LESSONS

Lessons will consist of a quick recap of our last lesson and a discussion of what you would like to work on during your lesson, a warm up (vocal exercises, breathing exercises, and stretching), learning new exercises you can apply in practical settings, note and rhythm reading/music theory, and repertoire. More advanced students will practice: sight reading, transcription, more advanced repertoire, and more advanced music theory.

For each lesson the student will need something that produces pitch (ideally a keyboard or piano but an app on a device separate from their Zoom phone/tablet/computer will suffice), a pencil, staff/notation paper, and a metronome or metronome app on said phone/tablet.

WHAT TO EXPECT - DRUM LESSONS

Lessons will consist of a quick recap of our last lesson and a discussion of what you would like to work on during the lesson, a warm up (stretching, breathing exercises, and rudiments), learning new rudiments/exercises you can apply in practical settings, rhythm and drum chart reading, music theory, and repertoire. More advanced students will practice: sight reading (lead sheet, big band charts, snare drum exercises and etudes), transcription, music theory, piano and/or voice instruction.

For each lesson the student will need a metronome (an app on a device separate from their Zoom phone/tablet/computer will suffice), a pencil, staff/notation paper, and a practice pad/snare drum/drum set.
